I’m Bob Walczak and I have run our family business Omni Auto Sales for over 40 years. It all started in 1976 when my father (the late Kenneth Walczak) opened State Line Motors in Calumet City, IL. In 1983 he decided to start a second lot Omni Auto Sales in Whiting, Indiana.  When I was a Senior in High School (1985) my father lost an employee. This opened the door for me when my father asked if I wanted to start working after school and said, “see what you can do”. I eagerly accepted.

I started on a cold Saturday in January with my first customer becoming my first sale. Then, the second customer I took a deposit for the following Monday, and it was amazing. My father was impressed and that evening he came up with a plan that started my career. I went to school and right to work after my last class. With no college education my father was surely my professor. 

I eventually met my wife working in Whiting, Indiana.  Her family has a long history in Whiting.  We just celebrated our 29th year of marriage and have two sons who work part time for us as well.  Each of our sons bring an unique asset to our family business and have been truly a blessing to our legacy.

Omni Auto Sales still resides in Whiting, Indiana known for being the little city by the lake. It holds the renowned Pierogi Fest which brings in 300,000 visitors each year.  

We have seen incredible growth through the years.  We have expanded our small corner lot and built a new office and detail shop. When COVID hit our nation, we had some minor setbacks but being in a community that pulls together we have revamped and moved on.

I have been an Independent dealer for 40 years and have achieved a long history of clientele.  Since my father's passing, I have brought the business he started to a whole new level that he would have only dreamed.

It was a passion of mine then and continues to be my passion to bring quality used cars to all my customers.

Nick has been helping us sell cars since he was 16 years old. After graduating high school Nick will be selling cars on a part-time basis while attending Purdue Calumet University.
